Barnehurst AGM

The new Barnehurst Conservative Branch held their inaugural General Meeting on Friday evening (19 January) at the Association headquarters in Church Road, Bexleyheath.

The well attended meeting was presided over by Association Chairman, Mark Brooks, until members elected Cllr Brian Bishop as Chair of the new Branch.

Members discussed the forthcoming year’s plans for political, social and fundraising activities, and elected other Officers for the Committee. Also, the strategy for the Local Election in May was presented.

Rt Hon David Evennett addressed the meeting and highlighted the local events of the past year, including the General Election result in Bexleyheath and Crayford, saving Bexleyheath Police Station from closure, the opening of a new Post Office in Crayford, and the new tender for the rail franchise of the South East London and Kent line. He then answered questions from members.

The Officers elected for 2018 were:

Chair: Cllr Brian Bishop

Vice Chair: Howard Jackson

Treasurer: Ruth Smith

Secretary: Hilary Haslam
