Tesco held their ninth Neighbourhood Food Collection from 1 December – 3 December.

The Neighbourhood Food Collection is held in all Tesco stores, and the food is then redistributed to community groups and local charities to ensure it will help people in need.

The initiative was launched in 2012 and is held in conjunction with both the Trussell Trust and FareShare. They encourage people to donate a wide range of foot from tinned fish to pasta sauces.

Rt Hon David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, paid a visit to the Tesco branch in Welling High Street on Friday 2 December to support the initiative, meet volunteers and staff, and to make a donation.

Mr Evennett commented: “It is great to be here today to witness the generosity of local residents. The volunteers and staff have done a brilliant job in engaging shoppers and collecting a large amount of food”.
