The MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, Rt Hon David Evennett, and Bexley Mayor, Cllr Eileen Pallen, joined around 250 local members of the Indian community on Saturday night (28 January) at Townley Grammar School to celebrate Indian Republic Day.
During the evening there were discussion groups, entertainment, speeches and a full Prasad dinner.
Mr Evennett spoke of the importance of the long and historical relationship between the UK and India, as well as the great opportunities for trade and cultural developments in the future. He praised the local community for their enterprise, values and cultural traditions.
