Rt Hon David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, attended a Parliamentary event on Wednesday (28 February) to help support Marie Curie’s ‘Great Daffodil Appeal’.

Mr Evennett met with Cold Feet actress and long-term Marie Curie supporter, Fay Ripley, as well as Marie Curie Nurses Victoria Shodeko and Victoria Oluwalogbon, to discuss the launch of the appeal on 1 March as well as the fantastic work they do across the UK.

The daffodil pins will be available from shops and volunteers throughout March, with the money raised going towards helping support people with any terminal illnesses, providing patients and their families with the support they need at such a difficult time.

Each year, 8 million daffodil pins are distributed, and last year the charity raised £6.6million.

Mr Evennett comented: “Marie Curie Nurses provide vital care for thousands of people living with terminal illnesses, and I am pleased to be able to support this fantastic charity in launching their Great Daffodil Appeal. It was also good to meet with Marie Curie staff and supporters to discuss this campaign and the brilliant work they do”.

Fay Ripley said: “I’m delighted to be here with Mr Evennett to help launch Marie Curie’s annual Great Daffodil Appeal. Chances are, we all know someone who’s been affected by a terminal illness, so it’s absolutely crucial that families have the care and support they need at such a difficult time. I hope that as many people as possible wear a daffodil this March and understand that in doing so, they are making a huge difference for people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones.”
